What hotel inventory actually involves

A hotel is three stock problems sharing a building. Rooms and FF&E — furniture, fixtures, equipment, linens in rotation — are asset registers with housekeeping workflows, and they belong to property operations software tied to the PMS (the property management system that runs bookings and room status). Housekeeping consumables — toiletries, cleaning supplies, laundry — are par-level stock with many small locations. Food and beverage is the most conventional inventory of the three: perishable goods with batch numbers and expiry dates, a storeroom, outlets drawing from it, and purchasing against occupancy forecasts.

Property-wide hotel platforms and PMS add-ons cover the first two classes inside the hotel's own ecosystem, and for the building itself that is the right home — a standalone inventory system bolted beside a PMS usually duplicates what the PMS already tracks.
